How Colony Flow Works
Pick a colored cube from the tray. It moves into one of 5 waiting slots and its ants start marching from the nest hole.
Ants only eat tiles of their color that they can reach from open ground โ buried tiles must be uncovered first.
If all 5 slots hold colors with no reachable tiles, the colony jams and the level fails. The white ring marks safe picks.
Eat every tile to reveal the pixel art and win. No boosters used = 3 stars and bonus coins.

HardColony Flow In-Depth Review & Strategy Notes
I've cleared several hundred Colony Flow levels by hand and run every one of the 1317 boards on this site through our automated solver, so this review is based on how the game actually behaves โ not on store-page marketing. The short version: it's the most relaxing entry in the color-sort genre I've tested, and also the one where lazy play punishes you the hardest after level 100.
What makes it different
Most sort games move objects between containers. Colony Flow inverts that: you tap a colored cube, ants march out of the nest hole, and they eat every tile of that color they can reach from open ground. Reachability is the whole game. A red tile buried under blue tiles doesn't exist yet as far as your red ants are concerned โ and a level fails the moment all five waiting slots hold colors with nothing reachable left. There's no timer and no move counter, which is why it feels calm even when a board is quietly setting a trap for you.

How the difficulty actually ramps
The mechanics arrive on a fixed schedule: hidden "?" cubes from level 8, locked cubes that need the cube on top of them cleared first from level 12, and a second nest hole from level 18. Our solver data shows the real difficulty spike isn't any single mechanic โ it's board depth. Early boards rarely bury a color more than two layers deep; past level 100 you'll routinely see colors entombed under three or four others, which means the "just tap whatever glows" strategy stops working entirely.
Boosters, ranked
Four boosters unlock as you play: Extra Slot (level 3, 40 coins) adds a sixth waiting slot for the current level; Shuffle (level 4, 40 coins) rerolls the tray layout; Pick Up (level 6, 50 coins) returns a loaded cube from a slot back to the tray; Vacuum (level 9, 60 coins) deletes every tile of one color outright. My ranking after 1317 boards: Extra Slot first โ one more slot is insurance against exactly the jam that ends levels. Vacuum second for genuine walls. Shuffle is a coin trap: it changes the tray, not the board, so an unwinnable position usually stays unwinnable.
The economy is generous โ if you play clean
A win pays 12 coins plus a level bonus that grows to +20, and finishing without boosters adds 8 more coins, awards 3 stars instead of 2, and gives a 55% chance of a free booster drop. That loop is the real meta: play hard levels dirty and you bleed coins; play them clean with a walkthrough and the game literally pays you in boosters you'll never need to buy.
Three habits that fix most fails
First, trust the white ring โ it marks cubes whose color is reachable right now, and loading anything else is gambling. Second, open the board's worst color early: the color with the most buried tiles should get slot time before the easy ones. Third, never fill your last empty slot unless the cube you're loading eats immediately. Every soft-lock I've analyzed in solver logs traces back to breaking one of these three rules.
Verdict
9/10 as a coffee-break puzzler. The ad load on mobile is the only real blemish โ and you can sidestep it entirely by playing the free web version here. When a level flags you down, the walkthrough pages have the matching video plus a written loading order generated from the actual board data.
What Players Say
Rated 4.1โ from 23K+ ratings on Google Play.
โSuch a cute way to pass the time. Watching the little ants carry every tile away is weirdly satisfying, and there's no timer pushing you.โ
โThe game design is great โ it looks simple but the later levels really make you plan which color to load first. Level 240 took me a whole evening.โ
โRelaxing and clever. My only gripe is the ad breaks on mobile โ which is exactly why I play the web version while I'm at my desk.โ
โI use the walkthrough videos when a hard level flags me down, then replay it clean for 3 stars. The white ring tip alone fixed most of my fails.โ
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Colony Flow?
Colony Flow is a color-sort puzzle game. You tap colored cubes to send ants out of their nest hole; the ants march up and eat every board tile of that color they can reach. Clear the whole pixel-art picture to win โ but if all five waiting slots fill up with colors the ants can't reach, the colony jams and you fail the level.
Can I play Colony Flow online for free?
Yes. The full game is embedded right on this page and at /play/ โ no download, no sign-up. Your progress saves automatically in your browser.
Why did I fail even though cubes were left in the tray?
A level fails when every waiting slot holds a color whose remaining tiles are buried behind other colors. Always check the white highlight ring: it marks cubes whose color is reachable right now. Loading unreachable colors is the #1 cause of jams.
How do I get 3 stars on a level?
Finish without using any booster. Using a booster caps the level at 2 stars, and no-booster wins also grant bonus coins and a 55% chance of a free booster drop.
What do the ? and ๐ cubes mean?
A "?" cube is hidden โ its color is revealed only when you tap it into a slot (they appear from level 8). A locked cube can't be picked while another cube sits on top of it in the tray (from level 12).
How many levels does Colony Flow have?
The walkthrough playlist currently covers 1317 levels and the creator keeps publishing new solutions almost daily. Every one of those levels has its own page on this site โ with the video, a board preview and a written loading order โ and the free web version here lets you play the same range.
When do boosters unlock, and what do they cost?
Extra Slot unlocks at level 3, Shuffle at level 4, Pick Up at level 6 and Vacuum at level 9. In the coin shop they cost 40, 40, 50 and 60 coins respectively. You also have a 55% chance of a free booster drop every time you win without using one.
Can I play Colony Flow offline?
The official mobile app works offline. The browser version on this site needs a connection to load, then runs entirely on your device and saves progress locally โ no account needed.
Is Colony Flow suitable for kids?
Yes. It's rated for everyone: no violence, no chat, no timers โ just ants, colored cubes and pixel-art pictures. The web demo on this site additionally has no sign-up and no in-app purchases.
Where can I download the official game?
Colony Flow by ABI Games Studio is free on the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android). Links to both stores are on our Download page โ or just play the web version right here without installing anything.
